This is the call we get most, in every one of the five towns we cover, for one of five reasons that barely ever changes.
What actually brings people to call us
Most maintenance calls are not emergencies yet. Somebody notices a drain draining a little slower than it used to, or a pipe ticking somewhere behind a wall, and puts off calling until it is either an emergency or a habit they have stopped noticing. Neither one is the right amount of time to wait. A short visit now is almost always smaller than the same problem in six months, and we would rather have that conversation early than after hours on the on-call line.
Why the truck already has the part
Our service trucks are fully stocked, so most repairs get finished on the same visit instead of waiting on a parts run. And if something is not right after we leave, tell us and a plumber comes back to make it right. That is the whole guarantee, and it applies to a five-minute faucet fix the same as anything bigger.

What we hear first
Five things people notice right before they call.

Slow-moving drains
Water backing up half an inch before it decides to go anywhere. Usually a clog building slowly, not a sudden one.

Changes in your monthly bill
A water bill that jumps for no reason you can explain is a leak you cannot see yet, somewhere in a wall or under a slab. That is what leak detection is for, and it is cheaper than the repair you get if you wait.

Water-pressure issues
Either a supply problem or something narrowing inside the pipe. Both are worth finding before the pipe finds a way to fail on its own.

Noisy pipes
Banging, clanking, ticking. Pipes are not supposed to talk. If yours are, something inside them is loose, worn, or full of air it should not have.

Discolored water
Rust, sediment, or a water heater anode that has given up. None of it is something you want running through the tap.

What changes with the calendar
Winter
Central Texas freezes are short and mean. Insulate exposed pipes, drain the hoses, and shut off the outdoor lines before the first hard freeze, not during it.
Summer
Check hoses and irrigation before the heat finds the weak point in them, and keep gutters and outdoor drains clear so a downpour has somewhere to go.
